Message for December

Our Monthly Message Based in Faith

Dear friends in Ethiopia.

I love the fact that Ethiopia has its own time and calendar and is unique among the nations of the world.  Our year 2022 is coming to end, but before it ends we will be celebrating the birth of Jesus on 25th December and you will celebrate on 6th January.

However, like many nations you have been through dark and challenging times. The Old Testament prophet Isaiah saw the people of Israel walking in darkness and he cried out to God to bring change for the people of Israel. The Lord God heard his cry and Isaiah received a wonderful vision from God of the coming Messiah.  It was a message of truth and hope for the future.  In Isaiah 9: 1-7. God said “for to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders”.  The child born to Mary a virgin is Jesus….who is a “Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” – who is our great hope and salvation. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus each year … for us all HE is our great hope and salvation.

To help and protect us at challenging times, Gods word in the Bible teaches us the importance of prayer saying “do not be anxious about anything”. Often our prayers are much bigger than us and God’s word teaches us to ask for His protection and be aware we are in a battle.

Ephesians 6 verses 10-18  explains how we can protect ourselves and our family.

“Finally be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  The word of God says “Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand again the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers and against the authorities of this dark world and the spiritual powers of evil”.  Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground and be strong, and after you have done everything, stand firm then with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, with your feet fitted and ready to walk in the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  And pray on all occasions with all kind of prayers and requests for the Lord’s people”.  We can invite God into each day and ask for protection!

It is very cold today in England and we wish for some warm Ethiopian sunshine.

We send love as we think of you and ask God to bless you and your family.
