Message for March – The Lord’s Prayer

Our Monthly Message Based in Faith

Dear friends

Today the weather in England is beautiful.   I see a blue sky and feel the warmth of the sun on my face which makes me want to sing and praise God.   All the people in England can rejoice that the winter is passing and spring is coming.  We have four different seasons in England and the temperature changes throughout the year from hot sunny summer weather, to cooler autumn days when the skies are cloudy and the leaves fall from the trees;   followed by the cold/freezing temperatures in winter when nothing grows and the land is dormant.  Then suddenly a beautiful day arrives like today and we rejoice that spring “is in the air”.

Whilst our weather may be different, I am reminded that wherever you live in the world The Lord’s Prayer is the same for us all.  Let us join together when you receive this message and say the prayer that Jesus taught us in Matthew 6:9-13

Our Father, in heaven,

Hallowed be your name

Your kingdom come,

Your will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our

daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as

we forgive those who sin again us,

And lead us not into temptation

But deliver us from evil.

For yours in the kingdom, the power

and the glory both now and forever.

Amen.

This prayer has guided God’s people all the way back to the origins of the church, beginning with Jesus teaching his disciples how to pray.  Let us try and find God in this familiar daily prayer for ourselves.  I have this wonderful thought to know that we are seeking God together through this daily prayer.  Although I cannot see you or talk with you, we have the same Father God who hears our prayer.

We are now moving towards Easter and we call this period of time “Lent”.  I believe in Ethiopia it is a time of fasting towards Easter.  However let us connect as one and be closer to God during Lent through this daily prayer.  I cannot see you or talk to you yet our hearts can be joined together in prayer.

Thinking of you all, and I pray for your protection and peace as the conflict continues in Ethiopia.  Take care of each other and we send our love.
